Hello! And thank you for stopping by! I thought it would be useful if you knew a bit about me. So here goes.
My work as a Marketing Virtual Assistant has taken me on an interesting journey. I started working for myself part-time back in 2012. A old work colleague from my San Francisco days found me on Facebook and we connected. She happened to be setting up her own company at the time and asked me if I’d like to work for her. I had always wanted to work for myself so of course, I said yes! At the time I was also working a part-time job in technical support.
I created a bunch of my own WordPress websites over the years and because they were my sites, it allowed me to practice a lot of stuff I learned. Things like changing themes, playing around with customization, playing around with CSS and coding. All stuff I had been dying to get into. I also created a few affiliate marketing sites where I made sales promoting Amazon products.
Fast forward to today. I now work solely for myself. I provide support helping small business clients with their websites writing content, providing keyword research, optimizing content for search engines, social media marketing and all aspects of website administration.
I am physically located in Ireland which allows my U.S. and Canadian based clients to take advantage of time zone differences increasing their productivity. Many times work is sent to me late in the day and I can have the work completed and returned to the client by the following morning.
The best part about my job is that I can work from anywhere and I do. Over this past summer, I went to Connecticut to visit my family and stayed for about a month. It was awesome! Plenty of time to work and play. I started getting into a pretty good routine, too. I’d go to the library in the morning where they had beautiful wooden workstations with electric sockets and Ethernet ports. Because it’s the library I could really hunker down and get my work done for the day. If I didn’t tell anyone I was over there, none of my clients would have been the wiser because there was no impact to the work I was doing for them. The benefit to me, of course, was that I was able to participate in meetings in the same time zone!
So that was my vacay. Work in the library during the day like a regular work day and hang out with friends and family at night and on the weekends. I am finally living my “work from anywhere” dream!
